Technical Rope Rescue Technician

The Technical Rope Rescue Technician (TRRT) follows on from the Technical Rope Rescue Operator (TRRO) Course.

This advanced level course focuses on high angle rescue techniques and more complex rescue systems. Participants must have a high level of competency in the TRRO course skills before undertaking the TRRT.

The Technical Rope Rescue Technician course incorporates the Rescue 3 International Technical Rope Rescue course as well as Nationally Endorsed Units of Competency, including:

  • Perform complex vertical rescues
  • Co-ordinate emergency response
  • Apply search and rescue skills
  • Plan for outdoor recreation activities (Advanced)

Who is the course for?

The TRRT course is designed for advanced rescue operators, rescue instructors and outdoor leaders and guides operating climbing or abseiling activities in remote locations.


Training and Assessment

The TRRT course is delivered over 5 days. Training and assessment will comprise of both theoretical and practical components. Training will be conducted over 3 days, plus an additional two days for the final assessment .

Are there any course pre-requisites?

The TRRT Course is an intensive 3 day training program which is both physically and mentally demanding. As a result, students will require an appropriate level of fitness and commitment to effectively participate in the program. A pre-requisite in TRRO or equivalent.

Technical Rope Rescue Technician Course students must be 18 years of age

What certification is issued?

Upon successful completion of the TRRT course assessment, along with Unit of Competency requirements, Rescue Training Group P/L (RTO) will issue students with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

What are the course fees?

Technical Rope Rescue Technician (TRRT) Course fees are $450. This includes training, supply and use of technical equipment, TRRT Course Manual, and professional instruction.

Technical Rope Rescue Technician Assessment (TRRT-A) fees are $270, including Statement of Attainment.
