Rope Access Operator
The Rope Access Operator Course has been developed to provide participants
with the theoretical knowledge, practical understanding and skills
to enable them to use rope access systems to perform a range of
tasks in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and Workplace
Health and Safety guidelines.
The Rope Access Operator Course incorporates the latest nationally
endorsed Units of Competency covering:
Demonstrate
simple abseiling skills on artificial surfaces
- Apply single pitch abseiling skills on artificial surfaces
- Establish ropes for abseiling on artificial surfaces
- Safeguard an abseiler using single rope belay system
- Perform vertical rescues
- Respond to emergency situations
- Undertake risk analysis of activities
- Plan outdoor recreation activities
- Plan for environmental impact
The RAO course will include topics such as:
- Australian Standards
- Risk Management
- Technical equipment
- Knots and anchors
- Mechanical advantage systems
- Equipment selection, use & care
- Technical systems rigging & operation
- Rope Access rescue systems
- Preplanning and logistics
Training and Assessment
The RAO course is delivered over 6 days. Training and assessment
will comprise of both theoretical and practical components.
Who is the course for?
The Rope Access Operator Course (RAO) has been designed and developed
by RTG to address the needs of businesses and industries which require
workers to work safely using rope systems.
Are there any course pre-requisites?
The RAO Course is an intensive 6 day training program which is
both physically and mentally demanding. As a result, students will
require an appropriate level of fitness and commitment to effectively
participate in the program. It is also necessary that students hold
a current first aid certification to validate the RAO Identification
Card.
What certification is issued?
Upon successful completion of the RAO course assessment and Unit
of Competency requirements, Rescue Training Group P/L (RTO) will
issue students with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment.
What are the course fees?
Rope Access Operator (RAO) Course fees are $1750. This includes
training and assessment, supply and use of technical equipment,
RAO Course Manual, RAO Identification Card, Statement of Attainment
and professional instruction.
