Rescue 3 Courses - (Original)
The new courses developed by RTG now include the relevant Units
of Competency taken from the endorsed Training Package (SRO 03).
The new courses are based on the traditional Rescue 3 course content,
along with feedback received from past course participants and industry
representatives. The new rescue courses are a step forward from
courses that were already at the forefront of what is offered elsewhere.
With this course restructure comes a more flexible delivery, assessment
and re-certification system. The courses are now broken up into
to components - a training component and an assessment component.
For the higher level skill courses there will be a break between
the training and assessment components, thereby providing participants
with the opportunity to revise and practice before undertaking the
assessment.
Students have the option of undertaking the training component
only and attend the assessment when they feel ready. They can also
attend any assessment days offered by RTG throughout Australia.
The "recertification process" will involve either, undertaking
the training and assessment components again or if candidates believe
that they have maintained their skill levels, they can sit the assessment
component only. It is recommended that students undertake the recertification
process on an annual basis in order to ensure competency is maintained.
What if my Rescue 3 certificate is still valid
and I want to recertify?
If you wish to recertify your Rescue 3 certificate (non-NRT) only,
you will be required to undertake the training component of the
relevant new course(s). You will not be required to complete the
assessment component.
What if I only want the Rescue 3 certificate?
The same system applies as for recertifying Rescue 3 students.
You will be required to complete the training component of the appropriate
new course (e.g. if you only want the Swiftwater Rescue Technician
Level 1 certificate or Whitewater Rescue Technician level 1 certificate, you will need to complete the training component
of the Swiftwater Rescue Operator Course).
